My Other Me-Waden Wandering

Waden, a taller than usual Gnomish man, sat up in bed. Stretching he thought about the last three months and how he’d died in his previous life before waking up on a hill not too far away from where he currently called home. The substantial project of hollowing out the small mountain had given him the time and motion needed to process the emotional load of all that had happened.

He had the advantage of having a ‘System’ like everyone in every Isekai ever. His turned this new world into what was effectively a heavily modded Minecraft game. He had his own Inventory, storage had it’s own secondary inventory for double the storage and he could excavate dirt and stone much quicker with even the most rudimentary tools. Putting in a garden had been a priority as well. Now he had a handful of fruits and vegetables to add to his diet. another boon of his ‘System’ was the ETS (Energy Transmutation System) Console he had in his Inventory when he’d woken up which, once he had placed it inside, he could add whatever he wanted to it and create anything in it’s Catalog if he had enough EP(Energy Points). Needless to say the stone from the mountain gave him more than enough to feed himself while he got the garden set up.

Now he had a comfortable home, he was still working on the kitchen area but he could make a few things. Everyday he tended to the garden and explored with his Fire Stoat Jewel by his side for any useful supplies in the valley by his mountain. That’s where he’d found his peach tree and Boysenberry bushes and harvested wood from the fallen trees to clean up the area. The road through the valley needed some work and he’d been glad to do it because it gave him the opportunity to meet and befriend some traveling merchants who appreciated his efforts. Now they would stop by and buy fruit and vegetables to take to market. Soon he was hoping to add to the list of things he had for sale.

Getting out of bed he headed to the flat gridle he’d set up, Jewel curled up under it to begin heating it up for his toast while he got a small portion of salted butter to smear on the Oatmeal Bread slices. He drank some water and devoured his toast before heading outside to check the water in the garden water canals, he topped them off with a bucket and water from the nearby river that wound through the green hills to the east like a snake.

“What do you think, Jewel? Another trip into the valley or should we try and hike the neighboring mountain?” He asked them, she just stared at him, knowing she would probably ride on his shoulder for most of it either way. “Maybe some more mining so I can get some metal equipment?” He only had the stone tools at this point. He needed to get his smelter and smithy set up soon. That was the priority, thankfully he’d been able to get some books from those merchants on that very topic. Now he needed the basic supplies and a few attempts before he refined his method and installed the more permanent version in his basement, with ventilation set up. He’d opened an area to build a roof over at the river below the mountain so he would have fresh air and access to water.

Several months later:
Waden drank his lunch, a nice tomato bisque, before getting back to work on a set of daggers he was making. They were close to the finishing stage but he wanted to go over them again to make sure they were ready. He’d sold and traded a lot of what he’d forged to the traveling merchants so he needed to replenish his supply for the next one who came through.
There was a demand for well crafted, basic weapons as they gave people an affordable option and barracks liked them for training weapons to reduce the wear on their gear. This worked to his advantage. He also sold Redwood timber which was not native to the area so any supplier would easily make a fortune with it.
He wasn’t rich but he was comfortable enough to be able to afford spices, assorted alcohols, seeds, and creature comforts like nice soaps, utensils, and new clothing. Plus his magical abilities had expanded, he had Mage Light, Chilling, and Heating Glyphs which made food storage and cooking a breeze as well as lit his underground home with a calm, clean light. A Cleansing spell found use in purifying water and cleaning his clothing and sheets. Life was good.
